  WHY ABPM?

What is ABPM? Why ABPM?
24-hr ABPM 24-hr ABPM Patterns

Clinic blood pressure versus Ambulatory blood pressure

A clinic blood pressure takes a snap shot of the blood pressure, it does not give you a full picture of the blood pressure changes in a specific period.

An ambulatory blood pressure shows your blood pressure pattern profile for 24 hours. The profiling shows the characteristics of your blood pressure over 24 hours period which otherwise will not be detected by clinical blood pressure monitoring.

Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM)

Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM) is an evidence-based approach to the management of hypertension as it records your blood pressure fluctuations for 24 hours or longer.

A normal ABPM pattern shows your blood pressure fluctuates within the grey bands for Systolic blood pressure and Diastolic blood pressure [guidelines BHS-2000/reference ABPM papers].
